Dear Family, 

Well well well just another three weeks left here on the good ol' mission. Time has flown by much too fast for me. Things are looking good though. All should end well here in St. Austell. 

This week we didn't see everyone we wanted to see but it gave us some good time to go out finding. It can be kind of hard here to find new people. They don't really spend too much time at home or on the streets. They also can be very laid-back. But we did have a good week. Yvette is progessing nicely. We'll be seeing her on Tuesday. She is so prepared it makes her scared so we have to be careful with it all. But she has a very bright future ahead of her. We also made some really good progress with John this week. Once he comes to church he will be baptised. He just needs to get over some depression and fear. He should have come yesterday but he wasn't feeling too good. 

Antony was at church though. He even wore a tie. I was very impressed. We'll see him on Tuesday and help him in his house again and just see how he's doing. 

We also got to be part of a Mormon Helping Hands project this week. We all went to a local park and cleaned it up and did some landscaping. We even had a few non-members come along and get involved. It was really great. I love stuff like that.

Tuesday we also had a Zone Training. I got to give my last Mission meeting testimony. It was not fun. Well, it was a good testimony but I didn't like the fact that I got to do it because I'll be going home soon. 

Also, I figure that because I come home in a few you won't be too bothered that I stop sending photos of me specifically? Cool. I do have some good pictures of Cornwall this week though.

Oh, and to update, I destroyed another pair of trousers.... and my brown shoes have already on their last leg. But luckily there are a few sales going on right now so I'll be making some of my last purchases of my mission this week. Thank goodness. 

Oh, President Millar goes home this Wednesday and Thursday we are having Zone Conference to meet Pres. Gubler. So many meetings!!!

Dear Family,

Well. It has come. My last month in the mission. I never thought it would come! Last night I even got a phone call from the Zone Leaders asking me if I would bear my last and final testimony in Zone Conference.... It was quite the killer phone call.

Thank you for the emails this week. It was quite refreshing to hear them. I love all of you guys so much.

​So today it is raining..... and the high is 15 degrees Celsius. Thats only 60 in Fahrenheit. So it's June... and still jacket weather. I think I may just have to go for a swim the day I get home to cool down... 

This week has been pretty good for us. We saw Dave at Helena's house and Louise (a recent convert) came along and we all had dinner together. My first Thai Curry. Very yummy. Tuesday we had Ward Council. It was all about Sacrament Meeting and how we need to give the sacrament back to the Savior. I really enjoyed it all. By September all Sacrament Meetings will be the first meeting in the Block here in Europe. Right now we have it last.

We had a good first District Meeting of the transfer and afterwards I got to have Lunch with one of my previous companions and his family, Josh Pulman! He just finished the other week and was down here in Cornwall to do some surfing and they came into St. Austell and took us out to lunch. It was really good to see Elder Pulman again. He's doing really good, too. We also taught the Valetines again and answered a lot of Alfie's (one of their sons) questions. And then they asked too many questions about me and found out I do Parkour. So, naturally, I had to show them a few moves out in the back garden.... they forced me to do it!!!

Thursday we saw Thomas. Sadly, he dropped us. He felt bad that he took time to meet with us but wasn't spending any time with his family. So we forgave him for it. We'll see him around town, though. We also taught Harry again and made some really good progress with his concern with the Word of Wisdom. I understand D&C 89 so much better now! Friday we saw Francis, Emaline and also Antony. We helped him install a window on his house. We're going to see if we can help him again this week as well. 

We also had a really really good teach with a referral from a member of our ward. Her name is Yvette. Val Hawkins has been working with her for quite some time now and she's finally agreed to take the missionary lessons and she is just golden! All of her prayers about the church are being answered and I would imagine she'll be baptized before I come home. She's really great and super prepared. 

We also saw John that day and read the scriptures and then went over to Louise's to help out in her garden with her non member friend. I learned how to do a bit of stone work. It was pretty cool. 

Sunday was mostly finding but it being Fathers Day... no one was out... Oh well. 

And that was my week. 

As for dates and activities and stuff for when I get home, you guys decide what you want to do. I'll work around it with my friends and all that. They don't get priority over you guys.

Elder Pulman finished his mission a few weeks ago.  He came over with his family, from Wales, to Cornwall for some surfing.  We went to lunch.  We were comps in London a few months ago.  One of my favorites.

Dear Family,

Thank you so much for your letters.  I love to read your letters, and most all of you wrote me!  What's up with that?! ☺

So, you probably want to hear about my week?

 

We've been running around a lot. Because we went all the way to London on Friday it kind of sucked a lot of time out of our schedule.  But seeing Elder Holland was awesome. The bus was late getting us to Hyde Park so Elder Bethers and I only caught the last 45 minutes of his talk, but I got some good stuff from it. This week has really just rushed by.

Tuesday we had some good teaches with John and Amanda and Collin. I showed Elder Bethers around our area. Wednesday we helped a member of the Ward with one of the houses he is flipping. He's really behind on all the repairs and fixes. He was injured in an electrical explosion and was in a coma for a few weeks and his 20 year old son recently died. Just a whole heap of stuff happened, but he's finally feeling up to coming back to church - so we helped him out. Lots of drywall and painting and fun manly construction stuff. 

A few of our investigators have dropped off and one might end up homeless this week. We'll find out later this afternoon. If I could I would give up most of my time and try and help him find a job or money or a home or whatever. But I can't do that because I am a missionary. I've been called to build the kingdom of God here on the Earth. Yep, me and the Quorum of the 12 - we're building the Kingdom.

This should be a good transfer, though. Elder Bethers is a good guy. Funny side-note, his older Brother served here in St. Austell 4 years ago. Small world, huh? 

The coming week should be good as well. We recently got some new sisters in the District so that should shake things up a bit.

Everything we need is here in the Gospel, just as Elder Anderson recently put it. So, however hard it gets there at home keep on keeping on.  Endure to the end, the reward is coming.

Night at London Temple

Dear Family,

Well, I don't have loads of time this week. Plus, I'm on my ipad.  Right now I'm down in Plymouth with my new companion, Elder Bethers. He's from Holiday, Utah. He's been out 10 months. He's a good companion. We'll be spending the whole day here until Elder Douglas comes back from the Temple to come and get us. There are going to be Sisters over in Redruth this transfer, too. It's been almost a whole year since I've had Sisters in the District.

This week has been pretty good. We've found some really good new investigators this week. Thomas is only 22 and we also found a young couple with three kids, Amanda and Collin.


We had some really good service projects with some less-actives in the ward. The Allens' back garden was a massive bramble jungle. We used an electric lawn mower like a trimmer kinda thing to take it all out. I got poked and jabbed so many times! We also helped out a member of the Ward take a load of stuff to the dump. It was good fun. I love doing service.

We had a Multi-Stake Broadcast with Elder Holland, from Edinburgh, Scotland, the same area where Elder Holland was Mission President of, back in the early 90's. It was broadcast all over Scandinavia and the UK. He gave a really good talk about the Book of Mormon. He speaks with such conviction. It's amazing. We will go to Hyde Park with the London Mission and listen to him. Can't wait!

Dave, the one with the baptism date, got scared off because of the Word of Wisdom. But Helena, a member of the Ward, will keep a close eye on him. Harry is still thinking about it all. He came to the broadcast and enjoyed it but in the end it just gave him even more to think about.

But that's really about it for my week.

Oh, and just so you guys don't worry about me too much, last week I had a good ponder and I decided I'm not worried about coming home and all that. When it comes it comes, and that is life.

Also, I would like to buy some shirts to bring home. And I want to get some stuff for you guys, too Thanks!

Dear Family,

Thank you all for the letters this week. I don't have loads of time today but I'll try to get through everything.

This week has been pretty good for us. Antony cannot make up his mind so he will not be baptised yet. That's really what it's come to. Yes or no and a confirmation. We had some funny teaches as well with Harry and Dave. They both had had a little to drink before the lesson.... So we taught them the Word of Wisdom! I don't know how deep it sunk in, but it's on their mind at least.

We also met some really cool new people this week. One is named James. Stellar kid. Goes to Uni down in Falmouth and studies Sport Science and wants to be a body builder. We'll be seeing him later this week. We also found a guy named Murray. Does fruit and veg at Asda. But he can only meet on Thursdays.... which is a shame because the next two Thursdays are packed....

Did I tell you guys that Elder Holland is coming on the 12th?!! The whole mission is going. I'm super excited. Round 2 with one of my favorite Apostles. 

Joan is moving along. We really do hope her husband calms down though. It's nothing serious. He just doesn't like us too much. 

We'll see Gwen as well on Tuesday. We're going to be reading the Book of Mormon with her.

It seems like everyone we're teaching just needs a testimony of the Book of Mormon and everything would work out!! But it's just getting them there that's the hard part.... 

Monday we had a really great p-day with the other Elders. We went down to Charlestown. It's where most of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" was filmed. It was a really cool place. Lots of good pictures. 

We also had our last interviews with President Millar. He's such a good guy. I'm going to miss him a lot.  He's going home just a few weeks before me. So, I'll only have about 3 weeks with the new one. President Millar is thinking about sending me a greenie for my last transfer, which I would like a lot. Good motivation to keep me going. But that's really my plan for my last transfer. Make it as spiritual as possible and work hard.
